Community Activities
Two local organisations are set to benefit from funding from the latest round of the Mulhollands Community Assistance Programme, helping them continue their valuable work supporting people across Carrickfergus and Larne.
The programme has awarded £500 grants to The Willow Collective and Larne Community Development Project, recognising the positive difference both organisations make within their communities.
Supporting Connection and Wellbeing in Carrickfergus
The Willow Collective, based in Carrickfergus, brings people together through a range of activities designed to reduce loneliness and social isolation. The group provides opportunities for local people to connect through swimming sessions, social events and crafts, creating a welcoming environment where friendships can flourish.
The funding will also support a community project that will see members create blankets and hats for a local baby bank, providing practical help to families in need.
Helping Local People Through the Warm Space Initiative
Larne Community Development Project will use its grant to support the Warm Space initiative at Linn Road Community Centre.
Held every Monday, the Warm Space provides a welcoming environment where around 30 people can enjoy a bowl of soup, wheaten bread, tea and coffee while spending time with others in the community. The initiative offers support to those experiencing loneliness, social isolation or financial hardship, and can also help connect people with additional services and assistance when needed.
