Mulhollands Community Fund announces first successful projects of 2026

Mulhollands Funeral Directors are pleased to confirm the first successful community groups to receive funding from the Mulhollands Community Assistance Programme in 2026.

The fund was established to support small, grassroots projects that make a meaningful difference close to our funeral homes in Larne and Carrickfergus.

Following a strong response to the first round of applications this year, funding has now been awarded to two organisations delivering vital support within their local communities.

Supporting local families through food provision: Woodlands Presbyterian Church Food Table – Carrickfergus

Woodlands Presbyterian Church Food Table has been awarded funding to help continue its weekly food support for individuals and families experiencing food poverty in the Carrickfergus area.

Running since 2021, the Food Table provides free bags of essential groceries every week, with no referral required. Alongside practical help, the project also offers a welcoming space where people can enjoy refreshments, conversation and companionship. Many attendees describe the importance of having a friendly face and a safe place to talk, helping to tackle both hardship and isolation.

The Mulhollands grant will be used to purchase essential food items, allowing the team to continue distributing up to 25 food bags each week to those who need them most.

Bringing people together to reduce loneliness: Good Morning Larne – Good Morning Connections

Good Morning Larne has received funding for its new project, Good Morning Connections, a community coffee morning designed to reduce loneliness and social isolation among older people in Larne.

The one-off event, planned for June 2026, will bring local residents together in a relaxed and friendly setting to enjoy refreshments, conversation and light activities. The morning will also include a wellbeing focused guest speaker and opportunities for attendees to learn about local support services.

While the event itself is a single gathering, Good Morning Larne hopes it will act as a catalyst for future activity by helping residents form new friendships, build confidence and feel more connected within their community.

Making a difference close to home

Mulhollands Funeral Directors are proud to support projects that strengthen communities, particularly those that provide practical help, promote wellbeing and reduce isolation.

We would like to thank all groups who applied for funding in this first round and congratulate the successful applicants. Further funding rounds will be available in June, and eligible community groups will be encouraged to apply.
