Celebrating Local Impact: Mulhollands Community Assistance Programme July 2025

We are delighted to announce the July 2025 recipients of the 2025 Mulhollands Community Assistance Programme.

Three outstanding local projects have been awarded funding to support essential work in the Carrickfergus and Larne communities. Each of these groups is making a real difference to people’s lives, addressing key local needs with compassion, creativity and care.

Read on to learn more about each project and how they are using this support to make an impact.

Carrick Connect – Board Game Café

Carrick Connect has received funding to run a 2-day Board Game Café in Greenisland, designed to support children making the big leap from primary to secondary school.

The café will offer a fun, engaging, and screen-free environment where young people can build confidence, improve social skills, and talk openly about their concerns, guided by trained youth workers. The project was developed in direct response to increased anxiety among P7 pupils and aims to help 20 children prepare for their Year 8 journey.

Lunch and school starter packs will also be provided, ensuring every child feels supported practically as well as emotionally.

Home-Start East Antrim – Larne Baby Bank

The Larne Baby Bank, a volunteer-led project run by Home-Start East Antrim, has been awarded funding to purchase essential new baby items such as mattresses, bottles, nappies, hygiene products and seasonal clothing.

Although the Baby Bank relies largely on generous second-hand donations from the public, some items, especially those related to health and safety, must be new. This funding will help bridge that gap and ensure local families in need receive vital support during their most vulnerable moments.

In the last year alone, over 200 baby care packages have been delivered to homes across Larne, making a lasting impact.

Larne Community Care Centre – Comfort Kit Project

The Comfort Kit Project, led by Larne Community Care Centre, will use its funding to provide people entering crisis accommodation with high-quality essentials that can help make a temporary space feel more like home.

Each comfort kit includes bedding, pillows, towels, mattress protectors and even a microwave, small comforts that offer dignity and comfort during times of personal hardship.

With demand for crisis accommodation rising, these kits will directly benefit up to 20 individuals and families in Larne over the coming months.

Investing in Local Initiatives

At Mulhollands Funeral Directors, community has always been at the heart of what we do. The Mulhollands Community Assistance Programme exists to support grassroots projects that meet real local needs, with funding, encouragement, and connection.

We are honoured to support these three initiatives in 2025, and we’re grateful to every volunteer, coordinator, and organisation involved.

Thank you for helping to make our community stronger, together.
